Deucravacitinib, (Deucrava) works for treating moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in adults who need systemic therapy or phototherapy. Deucravacitinib should not be used with other strong immunosuppressants. Deucravacitinib is a drug that blocks TYK2, an enzyme that causes inflammation and immune responses. Deucrava prevents TYK2 from being activated by some receptors on the cell surface. This lowers the activity of STATs, which are proteins that contribute to psoriasis. TYK2 pairs with other enzymes called JAKs to send signals from cytokines, which are molecules that control inflammation and immunity. Deucravacitinib can stop the signals from TYK2 and JAK1 or TYK2 and JAK2, as shown in cell-based studies. How Deucravacitinib works to treat psoriasis is not fully understood. Deucravacitinib is a doctor prescription (Deucravacitinib) medicine.
