Octreotide, (Sandostatin LAR) works for treating controlling severe watery diarrhea or flushing in patients with certain types of tumors such as carcinoid, pancreatic islet cell tumors, gastrinoma, or vasoactive intestinal peptide secreting tumors. It is also used to treat a certain condition (acromegaly), when the body produces too much growth hormone and the hands, feet, face or head grow too large. It’s a doctor prescription (Sandostatin/Octreotide) medicine.

Side effect:

The most common side effects of Octreotide are:

Nausea, vomiting, loose/oily stools, constipation, stomach upset, gas, bloating, dizziness, or headache. Tell your doctor or pharmacist right away if any of these side effects persist or worsen.
